Description Jörg Thönnes CLA 2007-03-22 18:01:48 EDT
My current work scenario is as follows:

If we get new change requests for feature or bugs, I analyse the situation using Mylar and then forward some of the change requests to a co-worker.

We use the web connector to connect to our own repository. Since the web connector does not support attaching or retrieving contexts, the export / import would be the only way to forward the task context to my co-worker. But importing the
exported Mylar tasks and contexts overwrites all of the local information of my co-worker. Consequently, manual merging of the XML files would be needed.

I suggest to

(1) Add extra menu actions "Save Context..." / "Load Context..." at the places
where also "Attach Context..." or "Retrieve Context..." are appropriate.

OR

(2) Extend the attach / retrieve dialogs to allow saving to / loading from a file.

In this way, I could easily work around the missing context attachment in my connector: save into a file, hand it over to my co-worker and he loads it into his task.

I regard this as a major improvement in the task context management.

Nice. Two requests for the same feature in a few hours. :-)

Joerg: please comment on bug 178883. I'm leaning towards making the first pass at this more along the lines of your suggestion (2) since that's as simple as adding a file chooser to both wizard dialogs.
