Raising severity to major since it is considered an accessibility issue for our product.
Comment 3 Philipe Mulet CLA 2007-03-26 05:20:37 EDT
Are we doing this for 3.3 ?
Comment 4 Philipe Mulet CLA 2007-03-27 05:14:44 EDT
Note: if we do anything here, pls record a 3.3 patch, and a risk assessment for a 3.2.2 backport.

I am scheduling this for 3.3 but at the moment we have no cycles to address it. Attaching a working patch would improve your chances significantly :-).

There is no need for a scroll bar. The dialog is resizable. I just verified that I can make the dialog as large as I need to make the entire content show up correctly.

Lowering priority - I don't think this needs to be addressed with urgency.
Comment 7 B. Chen CLA 2007-08-23 14:43:37 EDT
Please consider fixing this in 3.3.1
Comment 8 Dejan Glozic CLA 2007-08-23 15:06:30 EDT
Why fixing when you can resize the dialog?
Comment 9 Michael Burkhart CLA 2007-08-29 14:25:04 EDT
I have spoken with our product accessibility lead on this issue and she noted that if the window can be resized with both the keyboard and mouse that this would be acceptable. I am not aware of how to resize an eclipse dialog with the keyboard though. If this cannot be done she is claiming that for users with keyboard only access this is an accessibility requirement that the text no be truncated on the window. She gave the following options:
(1) create the window large enough so that the text is not truncated on window open
(2) change the truncated text area to some sort of scrolled widget such that the user can use the keyboard to scroll the text area

If you do not agree that this is truncation is affecting accessibility and that keyboard only environments would be constrained, please let me know and we can try to discuss this further.

You can resize the window with a mouse by selecting the right dialog border and dragging. For the keyboard-only resize, do the following:

1) Select Alt+Space key combination
2) Use Up/Down keys to select the 'Size' menu from the window system menu
3) Use the right arrow to resize the dialog
