With the recent problems around the length of the generated suffixes, I think it would be good if the properties generatedVersionLength and significantVersionDigits could be specified in the builder's build.properties rather than in each feature (note that if there is a value in the feature build.properties it should take precedence). Also this would greatly simplify homogeneity.

Not using the attached patch.  Released changes with properties passed in through the BuildScriptGeneratorTask as normal.  Internally we use a properties file in the same manner as in the patch.
