Summary: [EditorMgmt] Selecting in-place editor for .java generates meaningless COM error message

Description Martin Swiezawski CLA 2007-03-07 15:49:16 EST
Steps to reproduce:
Select and .java file in package explorer and select Open With->In-place editor
This action generates "OLE error opening" message, which does not help the user and a blank editor is opened.

The error appears to be caused by the fact that there is no ActiveX document application registered for .java extension. Would like a more meaningful message informing the user as to the cause of the failure.

Nice try Tod. Please remember that Platform UI owns all the inplace/OLE editors ;-)

Remy is now responsible for watching the [EditorMgmt] component area.
