Deleting an extension point from an editor that has not been saved does not cause the corresponding schema to be deleted.
Steps:
1) open the extension points tab in the plugin editor
2) select "add..."
3) enter the requested information and select finish
4) notice the schema editor opened and the plugin editor marked dirty.
5) move to the plugin editor and undo the changes. You will see that the schema editor stays open and the file stays around.

Note that if between the steps 4 and 5 the editor had been saved, the schema file would have been deleted and the associated editor closed

When I meant undo, I meant "ctrl+z".
Note that if instead one would have selected the entry and deleted it the schema would have been removed.

Going to make a dupe of 220109... PDE needs to be smarter and implement a delete participant.
