Bug 17037

Summary: [FastView] Inaccessible fast views when too many fast views/perspectives are open
Product: [Eclipse Project] Platform Reporter: Jason Montojo <Jason_Montojo>
Component: UIAssignee: Platform UI Triaged <platform-ui-triaged>
Status: CLOSED WONTFIX QA Contact:
Severity: normal

Version: 2.0Keywords: helpwanted
Target Milestone: ---
Hardware: PC
OS: Windows 2000
Whiteboard: stalebug

Description Jason Montojo CLA 2002-05-22 16:11:01 EDT
Build F1

When the toolbar that contains the fast view/perspectives buttons runs out of
space, all subsequently opened fast views become inaccessible unless you either
1) close some of the other perspectives/fast views, or 2) resize your workbench
window.

It also seems that there's a ~50 pixel-high solid-grey gap (cheese?) that sits
at the bottom of the toolbar containing the perspective/fast view buttons. The
gap is as tall as the status bar. It's not noticable unless you have a large
number of fast views open. The gap can make the bottom-most fast
view/perspective button appear cropped.

Does SWT support a vertical coolbar with chevron?
Comment 2 Mike Wilson CLA 2002-05-28 09:56:42 EDT
SWT does not support vertical CoolBars. Apparently, they exist on win32,
but they do not support the chevron.
Comment 3 Steve Northover CLA 2006-06-22 13:22:42 EDT
What? We added support for vertical coolbar for 3.2.
Comment 4 Mike Wilson CLA 2006-06-22 13:42:53 EDT
um... My comment was from 2002, which definitely pre-dates 3.2.

In any case, does the vertical coolbar support include supporting a chevron to access items that are not visible?

Sorry didn't read the date (and mentally added another digit to the bug number). Yes, it does.
Comment 6 Eric Moffatt CLA 2006-06-22 14:36:28 EDT
I'll take a look at how the PerspectiveSwitcher does it..

Is this still an issue with recent versions? If so, can someone please share a screenshot?

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
