NOTE: Solaris Motif is dead. The world has switched to Solaris GTK.
Comment 3 Keith McQueen CLA 2007-04-25 11:26:57 EDT
I can appreciate the sentiment, however, we have a number of government (go figure) customers who still need to support Solaris Motif, so therefore, we need to support Solaris Motif.

Ok, I expect the same thing will happen in Eclipse 3.2.2 but you should give that a try. Also, I think you will need to attach the offending workspace as I believe that Eclipse 3.2.1 Solaris Motif starts (although I haven't tried it in a while). Try to delete as much from the workspace as possible and still retain the start up error.

For Solaris 8/9 support in Eclipse 3.3, see also bug 176805

FYI, in the Eclipse 3.3 stream the Launcher (eclipse exe) is missing for Solaris Motif. I filed bug 185734 to track this. Anybody interested in Solaris Motif may want to watch this by putting himself on CC there, and verify that it actually works in his environment.
Comment 7 Mike Wilson CLA 2008-04-10 13:14:21 EDT
My reading of this is that Eclipse won't start if a particular workspace is used. Is that true, or is that it fails if *any* workspace exists? If the former, then it's hard to understand why it is flagged as "critical"; sometimes workspaces get corrupted (and cause crashes).

In any case, this is not a reference platform, so given how busy the SWT team usually is, it's unlikely that they will get to it. Marking as helpwanted.

(Updated title to accurately reflect the platform.)

Comment 8 Steve Northover CLA 2008-06-19 14:30:30 EDT
Downgrading the severity. Solaris Motif is not a supported Eclipse 3.4 platform.
Comment 9 Bogdan Gheorghe CLA 2012-06-20 15:55:15 EDT
Closing report, platform is discontinued.
