Currently users are able to specify a bundle version of 1.0.0.qualifier and have the qualifier automatically filled in at build time.

This is a request to enhance this feature and allow for string substitution for users to append a qualifier to a partial string. For instance - 1.0.0.1_qualifier.

In our specific case, we are putting third-party bundles into Orbit and we would like to maintain their current version number. We like the addition of the qualifier because it allows for updates but some libraries already have 4 parts to their version so this mechanism would allow the qualifier to be appended to the already existing 4 part version.

Yes this only allows for 9 updates before the sorting is incorrect, but it allows the original number to be preserved. Perhaps our story going forward should be that we prepend the last version with a 0 if necessary. (e.g. 1.0.0.01_qualifier for v1.0.0.1)

Pascal, did this make it into the integration builds? I am using build 2007-01-09 and this doesn't work for me.

No I had not been tagged. Now it is. Sorry for the confusion.
