Description Dirk Segelhorst CLA 2006-12-01 09:02:18 EST
I did not find a preference value for the "Group by" in the Problems View. Such a preference value would be nice to initially set the CategorySorter in a RCP.

Another possible solution would be setting a markerGrouping as default grouping in the org.eclipse.ui.ide extension point.

The severity grouping is internally the default grouping. It would make more sense for us to do it in the sdk plug-in so as not to muck about RCP apps that use the IDe application.

Good idea though.

I would be interested in seeing any work you may have done in this area as well.

Patch showing my intention

The patch is just a quick hack, but it shows my intention. It allows to set in plugin_customization.ini the initial "Group by":
<code>
# Set default Group by for Problems view
org.eclipse.ui.ide/DEFAULT_GROUP_BY=<grouping id>
</code>

You can define this in 3.4 in your own content generator. If you use ours just select the grouping you want and it will be restored when you restart

Tod, did we end up using this patch?
Comment 7 Tod Creasey CLA 2008-05-20 13:15:32 EDT
No - this was covered by the work in 3.4 that had already been done.
