Description Andreas Goetz CLA 2006-11-17 07:39:09 EST
Programmatiaclly opening an editor via openEdtior in RCP fails with the error message "could not find editor id xyz" when no editor icon is defined in plugin.xml for that editor.
Not sure about this restriction, but the error message is misleading.

And this is a problem in 3.3? hmmmm. I remember fixing this ages ago in 3.1 IIRC...
Comment 2 Andreas Goetz CLA 2006-11-21 11:08:12 EST
Read in some forum that this issue was "introduced" with 3.2- apparently reappeared.
Comment 3 Kim Horne CLA 2006-11-21 11:25:22 EST
Fix in HEAD. The editor will remain usable with a default icon but the warning is still logged. Strictly speaking the API does require an icon for each editor that is not supplied via an external program.

This is causing test failures. I've reverted the change until I have time to investigate it.

Any chance looking into this or waiting post 3.3?
Comment 6 Kim Horne CLA 2007-04-18 08:34:26 EDT
Andreas: unlikely though we'd be happy to entertain patches that satisfy our test cases.
