can you open any dialogs (i.e. the preferences dialog)? are you using eXceed on windows to connect to solaris? do you have any special parameters set for the remote x session? Thanks for your response. No, I can't open any dialogs or xterm. The whole XWin is froozen. Solaris is still running, I can telnet to it. By doing a ps ef | grep eclipse I can see that the counter doesn't change. Yes, I use eXceed 6.1.0.0 to connect to Solaris. The parameters for Communication (under Xconfig) shows: Mode: XDMCP-query Display Number: 300 What else do you need? Thanks again. Moving to SWT for comment. If no dialogs open, this is not a debug issue. Maybe BG has time to investigate? I have found the same problem with the following configurations: - On a UNIX machine running Solaris 9. - Connecting via Xming to a UNIX machine running Solaris 9. - Connecting via Citrix to a UNIX machine running Solaris 9. In all cases the same problem occurs that XWindow freezes. Using Windows7 and Indigo -> same problem. Few observations: - I have no trace of it in Eclipse error log (Eclipse freezes and that's it, cursor shows it's busy, system tells it's non-responsive and it will sit there like that till I kill it) - it's not a performance problem (it uses 580MB and I set heap to use 1GB, CPU used is less than 10% - surefire way to replicate is to switch to debug perspective, either via keys, or menu, or perspective icon (top right corner) - same with - upon killing, I always have info that exit code returned is -805306369 I can open windows, but rendering menu (right click on open editor, drop down Run -> Debug As or something else) is another surefire way to freeze whole app. My memory settings: 512 (max) perm size; 1024 Xm(s)x. I can open About dialog, I can browse menu (but not a nested one! entering menu from rendered menu just freezes Eclipse!) and I can revert configs - which I'm just about to do since I have to work. re: comment 7 If you're running Eclipse on Windows then you're seeing a different problem, as this report is for Solaris, which uses a completely different swt implementation. Please log a new report with Platform - SWT and be sure to set the Platform fields accordingly. Grant - thank you. Done just that. Solaris is no longer a supported platform. |
