Sorry for the bad summary but I couldn't resist ;-)

Did anyone complain (-> bug nr) about the previous behavior to directly step into differences inside a line when comparing two files? If so, I can (or have to) live with the new feature but would at least like to
- have it enabled by default
- have it as preference and not make me toggle this n times a day
