The Windows event log reading program EventLogReader.exe does not expand error messages when writing out the events in text format to the file.  For example, here is the Message: value in the error.log file for a System Event log entry:

Message: No Windows NT or Windows 2000 Domain Controller is available for domain TOROLAB.  The following error occurred:  %%1311  ;

The message shown in the Description field for the same record in the Windows Event Viewer is:

Description:
No Windows NT or Windows 2000 Domain Controller is available for domain TOROLAB. The following error occurred:
There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.  

It would be useful if error messages could be expanded so that the parsed log records contain the error messages.

This issue was noticed when executing GenericLogAdpater\config\Windows\system\runregex_example.bat for the TPTP 4.3 standalone GLA package from 200611070100 build on a Windows 2000 machine .

This is not a serious issue.  Only stop ship issues can be addressed in TPTP 4.3 at this point so this problem is being deferred until 4.4.

As of TPTP 4.6.0, TPTP is in maintenance mode and focusing on improving quality by resolving relevant enhancements/defects and increasing test coverage through test creation, automation, Build Verification Tests (BVTs), and expanded run-time execution. As part of the TPTP Bugzilla housecleaning process (see http://wiki.eclipse.org/Bugzilla_Housecleaning_Processes), this enhancement/defect is verified/closed by the Project Lead since this originator of this enhancement/defect has an inactive Bugzilla account and considered to be fixed. If this enhancement/defect is still unresolved and reproducible in the latest TPTP release (http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/downloads/), please re-open.
