Description Eugene Kuleshov CLA 2006-11-03 10:49:46 EST
With existing repository providers for Bugzilla, Trac and Jira it should be possible to create a default query against all registered task repositories. Such queries could use text from the "Find"
field as a basic quick search term. Those queries could be run in a background and results perhaps should be shown in a separate virtual "Quick Find" category that will be populated lazily.

Other option. Instead of showing results in Task List, kick such query into the Search view (i.e. if user hit Ctrl-Enter in the "Find" field).

So, to support this we'll need some kind of API to get the query instance for basic "quick find" from each repository provider type.

Mik, the whole point for this is to be able to kick a global repository search without going trough query dialog
Comment 2 Mik Kersten CLA 2007-06-26 19:45:33 EDT
Will consider as part of improving the search story for 3.0.
Comment 3 Mik Kersten CLA 2008-05-13 13:50:18 EDT
No plans to revise the Search UI for 3.0, since we're focusing on API changes.
Comment 4 Mik Kersten CLA 2009-07-24 15:29:11 EDT
This could be in-lined into the additional line that appears below the Task List when find text is present if we had an elegant way of providing a way to change the selected repository.

Mylyn has been restructured, and our issue tracking has moved to GitHub [1].

We are closing ~14K Bugzilla issues to give the new team a fresh start. If you feel that this issue is still relevant, please create a new one on GitHub.
