Description David M. Karr CLA 2006-10-25 11:56:31 EDT
The documentation doesn't mention integration with Perforce. This would be critical for us. Eclipse allows integration with Perforce, with the P4WSAD plugin, but it's not clear whether that will make this work with Mylar.
Comment 1 Eugene Kuleshov CLA 2006-10-25 15:37:00 EDT
David, I newer saw p4 plugin. Does it using regular Synchronize view and have support for incoming/outgoing change sets? E.g. like CVS plugin...
Comment 2 David M. Karr CLA 2006-11-02 22:00:40 EST
I just talked to Perforce today, and there is apparently an open ER to "add a view similar to the cvs synchronize view". I'm now on the list of people that have requested this.
Comment 3 Eugene Kuleshov CLA 2006-11-03 01:49:48 EST
David, if you have any influence on those guys, please tell them to not add view but use a standard Synchronize view and API provided by Platform Team core.
Comment 4 David M. Karr CLA 2006-11-03 17:04:35 EST
The only influence I have is the ability to communicate my needs. I've given them a statement to this effect, and they've updated their enhancement request documentation to include it. I also provided this Eclipse bug number to them, if that's ever useful to them. If it's not obvious to the designing engineer exactly what this statement means, they might contact me/you for more information, through this issue number.
Comment 5 Eugene Kuleshov CLA 2006-11-03 17:13:48 EST
Thanks David. Just in case somebody will read this, there is at least 3 VCS providers that are using Team Sync infrastructure: CVS (included in Eclipse), Subclipse and Subversive. All of them are open source and can be used as an example.

David, Eugene,

I have sent an email to support@perforce.com with info about Mylar and Mik's presentation link and requested support for Mylar. It is long shot, but hopefully it will get to the engineers responsible for Eclipse plugin for p4.

Just got response from Perforce support:

Hi Lubos,

> I am using Perforce at work, mainly through the Perforce plugin for Eclipse
> IDE.
> Eclipse IDE is coming with new emerging technology called Mylar.
> I was wondering if Perforce has any plants to support Mylar
> http://www.eclipse.org/mylar/.
> Mylar currently supports Cvs and Subversion.
> Great presentation about Mylar (including architecture and connectors) is

There is an existing enhancement request for integration with Perforce and
Mylar. I have added your details to the request and should it be implemented
you will receive notification by email.

Please let us know if there is anything further we can do to assist you.

Regards,

Tim

There is now a free mylyn plug-in for Eclipse available: http://www.tasktop.com/connectors/perforce.php
Comment 10 Shawn Minto CLA 2010-05-18 11:29:58 EDT
Since there is a Mylyn connector now available, marking this bug as resolved.
