This project aims to make the data explorer view extensible so that custom data sources can now be made available and selected from in the Data Explorer view.

Do you mean display custom data sources in data source creation wizard?I believe this has alread been done. As far as custom data source implement DTP ODA interface and dataSource extension point, they will be automatically added to data source selection list.

The data explorer is already customizable by scan the ODA extension in eclispe plugins. Mark the bug as fixed.
