Description Christopher Lang CLA 2006-09-12 05:47:00 EDT
Trying to import a project, "Existing project into workspace" (for example another checkout of the very project with a different revision but with the ***same name***) does not even show the project name in the projects list to choose from, after browsing to the projects root dir.

It seems that renaming the project (to be imported) manuallay in the .project file can be used as a workaround but I am not sure if that causes other problems.

I give that one a "major" because I think that it is a common thing to checkout an older "release" version of a project and recompile it, while a newer version exists in the workspace.

Project import is done by the Platform team.
Comment 2 DJ Houghton CLA 2006-09-12 11:04:46 EDT
There are 2 problems here:

1). When you try to import existing projects into the workspace, the projects with the same names as those already existing in the workspace are removed from the list.

2). Clients are unable to develop different versions of the same plug-in in the same workspace at the same time.

Moving report to Platform/UI to address issue #1.

Adding Wassim to CC. I believe there is already a bug report entered for #2 but I can't find it. I think its in the PDE/UI space?

issue #2 is bug 44512

issue #1 is a dup of bug 157885
