Per the vote recorded here: http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/gmf-dev/msg00706.html GMF will be using Java 5 language features in the 2.0 release.  With this, the developer guidelines need to be updated to reflect this.

At the same time, perhaps it makes sense to move these guidelines to the wiki.
