Description Mario Lassnig CLA 2006-07-21 07:48:34 EDT
Hi all,
I have many projects in my workspace, where about 4-5 projects each make up one 'large overall project' so to speak. It would be great if projects could be organised hierarchically in the project navigation view (the semantics is that I would like to hide all alien projects than the one I am currently working on).

So for example (as it is now):
+Project A
+Project B
+Project C
+Project D
+Project E

but actually project X _is_ projects A and B, and project Y _is_ projects C, D and E (this is not a technological thing but an organisational one).
So if I'm working on project X, I want to hide project Y. And not in the sense of a "closed project" as it is now but hidden in a tree like structure.

So the view would be:

+Project X
+-Project A
+-Project B
+Project Y (hide here)
+-Project D (-> hidden)
+-Project E (-> hidden)
+-Project F (-> hidden)

I know that I can cross-reference projects, but I just want a visual treat because I always lose track of corresponding projects.

Thank you for consideration,
Mario

You can define working sets that I believe do exactly what you're looking for. In the Package Explorer, hit the little "down triangle" and you'll see some options concerning working sets.

You also get the hierarchy if you change the top level elements to "Working Sets" there. However, I would love to see that in the navigator too together with a quick filter. ;)
