Description Brian Smith CLA 2006-07-04 21:02:19 EDT
After installing 3.2 platform and downloading the Callisto distribution from the update site successfully (using the update manager as normal) I attempted to install the latest Subclipse and Coverlipse plugins.

I was able to add the remote sites and find the plugins successfully, but after downloading them I could not install them because the Free Space was detected as zero, and the "Finish" button was disabled. (There is over 200 GB free space on the drive.)

I've since tried different update sites for other plugins and the error happens every time. I've tried adding new locations to other drives and folders and the problem persists.

I'm running eclipse under Windows x64, with the amd64 JDK. I believe this may be a duplicate of bug 136907 or 132029? I can't find any information on how that bug was fixed - is it possible that it was fixed in a way that did not resolve it for the particular OS I'm using?

Version info:

Eclipse Version: 3.2.0
Build id: M20060629-1905

java version "1.5.0_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode)

PS - this is the first eclipse bug I've raised so let me know if I've screwed up somehow :)

I have the same problem. I am not able to install any extensions using the update/install dialog because there is no "free space". (There is enough free space on that drive)

I'm on Vista Beta 2.

I have this problem too. I am running Windows Server 2003 SP1.
Comment 3 Jonathan CLA 2006-07-13 12:01:26 EDT
I am also having this problem on Windows XP Professional with:

Version: 3.2.0
Build id: M20060629-1905

I am unable to install PyDev and Subclipse (these are the only two I've tried so far).
Comment 4 Branko Tripkovic CLA 2006-07-13 13:40:04 EDT
Jonathan,
Can you tell us more about your XP? We are almost all running XP and so far we did not have any problems in this regard.
Comment 5 DJ Houghton CLA 2006-07-13 13:45:52 EDT
What file-system type is on the drive that is having problems? (FAT, FAT32, NTFS, etc)
Comment 6 Jonathan CLA 2006-07-13 13:51:37 EDT
I always forget to mention it is an Intel Pentium D 64 bit. Let me know if there are specific things you want to know about my setup.

File system: 109.95 GB NTFS (Healthy), 49.7 GB free
I ran checkdisk and what not before posting my bug report.

I also started eclipse with Sun Java 1.4.2_11 and 1.5.0_06, both environments produced the same error.

I have an XP laptop that is 32 bit with an otherwise similar configuration, I'm going to install Eclipse 3.2 on it now to see if I see the same problem.

I'd like to note that my OS is often recognized as Windows Server 2003 and I think may be related more closely to that than XP Pro x86, although I'm just speculating.

We have bug open for Win 2003: bug 142815. I looks from your report that XP for x64 are based on Win 2003. Now it definitely looks like these are the same bugs.

As expected, it works fine on my XP laptop that is not 64 bit (but does have many similar applications installed as my 64 bit machine).
Comment 11 Branko Tripkovic CLA 2006-07-13 14:21:38 EDT
Jonathan,
Can you look at the comment #7 in the bug 142815 and tell us if you see the same thing on your win xp for x64?

If I understand this correctly, I need to recompile Eclipse to apply that patch, I just spent about 20 minutes trying to figure this out, it will have to wait for another day. Is there a nightly build or something with this change in it?
Comment 13 Branko Tripkovic CLA 2006-07-13 15:03:38 EDT
Unfortunately I did not release this change yet. But I will mark this as a duplicate. Since comment 7 and your comment here point to the conclusion that the patch from bug 142815 will fix the problem f0r win 2003, xp x64 and vista. If it doesn't then we will reopen this bug.
