I am filing this enhancement at the request of Jason Weathersby and David Michonneau.  The source code for these enhancements is attached.  It is important to note that these enhancements were built off of the BIRT 2.0.0 source code.

Gantt Chart

The first piece of functionality we added was the Gantt chart.  This chart type allows a user to track project-related activities over time.

CENTER attribute

The second piece of functionality added was the new CENTER attribute for the positioning of data labels.  This position allows for a data label to be centered directly between two points.  At this point, we have restricted this attribute to only be available for data labels on a Gantt chart, but it has the potential to be extended to other, appropriate chart types.

Bubble Chart

The final piece of functionality added was the Bubble chart.  This chart type is basically a scatter plot with a third value that is used to size the bubble.  The default marker type of the chart is a bubble, but it has the ability to display any marker type that is available to the line and scatter charts.

This document explains, from a user perspective, how to build a chart using the Gannt Chart type.

I thought it could be useful to understand some of the fine points of generating a Gantt chart.
