Description Joe Toomey CLA 2006-06-01 15:19:03 EDT
During model loading, opening, saving, closing or viewing/editing with TPTP viewers/editors:

1) We must not require that the entire model be loaded in memory.
2) We must support models that are larger than the total amount of system + virtual memory on the machine.
3) The upper limit on the size of the model's serialized representation should be limited by only the operating system.

Implicit in this enhancement is the need for this solution to be performant. While indirection may add some overhead, the existing model implementations are already somewhat slow, so if possible, improvements may be made in those areas to offset the cost of eliminating these size restrictions.
Comment 1 Kent D Siefkes CLA 2006-06-01 16:14:18 EDT
Changing priority to P1 for 4.3 release planning purposes.
Comment 2 Chris Elford CLA 2007-08-02 17:31:12 EDT
Suggest setting Versionto 4.5 for 4.5 discussion
Comment 3 Kent D Siefkes CLA 2007-09-10 14:31:06 EDT
Corrected estimate from 136 to 680 to agree with 17 week estimate from description document (it looks like 17 was interpreted as days instead of weeks).

AG Review Comments:

This is a large sizing with a description that doesn't imply any progress since it was discussed long ago. A call is needed.

Joe, can you update the Description Document with the progress/status? If this feature is still required, please schedule a call to discuss. Thanks.

This enhancement is no longer requested by the consuming product. As such, we are reducing the priority and moving the target to future.
Comment 6 Paul Slauenwhite CLA 2009-06-30 06:43:36 EDT
As of TPTP 4.6.0, TPTP is in maintenance mode and focusing on improving quality by resolving relevant defects and increasing test coverage through test creation, automation, Build Verification Tests (BVTs), and expanded run-time execution. As such, TPTP is not delivering enhancements. As part of the TPTP Bugzilla housecleaning process (see http://wiki.eclipse.org/Bugzilla_Housecleaning_Processes), this enhancement is resolved as WONTFIX. For this enhancement to be considered, please re-open with an attached patch including the Description Document (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/process/development/description_documents.html), code (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/resources/TPTPDevGuide.htm), and test cases (see http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/process/TPTP_Testing_Strategy.html).

As of TPTP 4.6.0, TPTP is in maintenance mode and focusing on improving quality by resolving relevant enhancements/defects and increasing test coverage through test creation, automation, Build Verification Tests (BVTs), and expanded run-time execution. As part of the TPTP Bugzilla housecleaning process (see http://wiki.eclipse.org/Bugzilla_Housecleaning_Processes), this enhancement/defect is verified/closed by the Project Lead since this enhancement/defect has been resolved and unverified for more than 1 year and considered to be fixed. If this enhancement/defect is still unresolved and reproducible in the latest TPTP release (http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/downloads/), please re-open.
