Bug 144292

Summary: GEF update site has vague name

Component: MiscAssignee: Tom Macdougall <tmacdoug>
Status: RESOLVED FIXED QA Contact:
Severity: normal
Priority: P3

Target Milestone: 3.2.0 (Callisto) RC4

OS: All

Description John Arthorne CLA 2006-05-29 15:03:47 EDT
Build: Callisto RC3

After installing Callisto components, when I go to Help > Software Updates > Find And Install..., I see two update sites called "Eclipse.org Update site". It turns out these belong to the GEF update site:

   <site name="Eclipse.org update site" url="http://download.eclipse.org/tools/gef/milestones/update-site/site.xml" web="false" selected="true" local="false"/>
   <site name="Eclipse.org update site" url="http://download.eclipse.org/tools/gef/updates/site-interim.xml" web="false" selected="false" local="false"/>

The first problem is that there are two sites with the same name. The second problem is that "Eclipse.org update site" is too general a name for the GEF site. Other sites follow a convention of listing the projet name, for example:

Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF) Update Site
The Eclipse Project update site
Web Tools Platform (WTP) Updates

etc... GEF should similarly qualify the name of its update site.
