For Norway and a few other countries, in order to get to the "/" key, they have to press "Shift". The key combination "ctrl+shift+/" will not work for them. Please investigate.

We should be using the same shortcut keys Java editor provides.

If you open the Java editor, what are the shortcut keys for Source->Add Block Comment and Remove Block Comment?
Comment 4 CDE Administration CLA 2006-05-17 11:03:46 EDT
Yes, Java editor has the same shortcut keys. Please route this to JDT.
Comment 5 Amy Wu CLA 2006-05-23 10:48:09 EDT
I'll keep this bug assigned to us to track that SSE needs to fix our side of the code, but as I stated in comment #3 we are using the same keybindings as Java to be consistent. They already have bug 73017 open on them for this issue, so I will mark this bug dependent on that. When they fix their bug, we'll fix ours.
Comment 6 Amy Wu CLA 2006-05-25 14:51:39 EDT
Since bug 73017 has been resolved as Later, I will do the same with this defect. The workaround is to change the keybinding preference in the Keys preference page.
Comment 7 CDE Administration CLA 2006-06-13 16:39:31 EDT
Defer unless already fixed.
Comment 8 John Lanuti CLA 2006-11-28 15:48:42 EST
This is part of a mass update to close out all stale WTP bugs which are in the resolved state without an appropriate targeted version. If you feel this bug was closed inappropriately, please reopen.
Comment 9 John Lanuti CLA 2006-11-29 09:02:27 EST
Bugs resolved with "Later" should not have been closed, reopening this bug.
Comment 10 John Lanuti CLA 2006-11-29 09:08:10 EST
Pushing back to the Resolved->Later state.
Comment 11 David Williams CLA 2007-07-19 02:00:47 EDT
re-opening to change resolved-later to open-Future
Comment 12 Amy Wu CLA 2008-10-27 04:34:09 EDT
reassigning to inbox
Comment 13 Nitin Dahyabhai CLA 2009-08-27 13:29:00 EDT
Basically we're waiting to see how JDT addresses it in bug 73017 so our behavior remains the same.

bug 73017 has not been commented on since 2007 and there's not much sense in leaving this bug open indefinitely because of theirs. As stated in the comments the solution is to change the key binding.

Preferences -> General -> Keys

Search for "Toggle Comment", or "Add Block Comment" , "Remove Block Comment"

there are lots of results but the ones for SSE say "Editing in Structured Text Editors" in the "When" column.

To to close.
Comment 15 Nick Sandonato CLA 2011-10-25 11:01:39 EDT
As mentioned by the Platform, there's not much that can be done, so I am resolving. Hopefully reassigning they keybinding is suitable.
