Bug 140331

Summary: [type wizards] do not warn package naming for existing packages
Product: [Eclipse Project] JDT Reporter: Tom Hofmann <eclipse>
Component: UIAssignee: JDT-UI-Inbox <jdt-ui-inbox>
Status: CLOSED WONTFIX QA Contact:
Severity: minor
Priority: P3
Version: 3.2
Target Milestone: ---
Hardware: PC
OS: All
Whiteboard: stalebug

Description Tom Hofmann CLA 2006-05-05 06:58:16 EDT
3.2 RC2

- create a project P with source folder S, containing class C in package X

> note that X is discouraged as package name

- open class C
- select File > New > Class (or Junit Test Case or similar)

> New class wizard opens, package is prefilled with package 'X'

- Type in the name of the new class

> Warning: package name is discouraged...
< expected: no warning, as the package already exists (and contains classes)

Rationale: the user didn't type in the package, so we shouldn't warn about something he probably knows already...

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
