Description Joan Haggarty CLA 2006-04-12 13:18:24 EDT
We are using the TypeSelectionDialog2 selection dialog from jdt to browse for Java classes. The dialog contains no tooltips or a prompt to tell the user what to do when the dialog comes up.

This is problematic (especially at first) because both the text field and list box appear empty. An easy fix would be to add a simple prompt at the top of the dialog to explain that it acts as a filter/search field. This would go a long way towards improving the usability of this dialog. A tooltip on the text field to explain its purpose would also be useful.

Great bug Joan! I've literally seen users trip over this.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
