Description Tadayuki Yoshida CLA 2006-03-24 05:15:30 EST
Build date: I200603231133 (TPTP)
OS: Solaris 10 (sparc) 1/06 (GTK)
Steps to recreate problem:
 1. Open "Profiling and Logging" perspective
 2. Open "Log Navigator" view
 3. Select "Logs" folder (or any other two folders)
 4. Move mouse pointer over "Refresh Views" button on the top right part of the view (4th button from left)
 5. Tooltip text "Refresh &Views" appears, that text contains mnemonic key character '&'

Expected output:
Tooltip text without mnemonic character "Refresh Views"

Eugene, is this a translation problem ?
I guess the fix would be to take out the mnemonic from the tooltip text
Comment 2 Eugene Chan CLA 2006-06-02 10:01:18 EDT
It is not a translation problem. Same string is used and shared betweem action item and tooltip. A new String is required which contains no mnemoic key.
Comment 3 Steven Wasleski CLA 2006-06-02 10:22:30 EDT
In cases like this most teams use a helper function to strip mnemonics off the strings as appropriate. TPTP probably has one. I know the platform does. The function has to be smart enough to handle locale specific cases like the standard practice in DBCS locales of placing the mnemonic at the end in parenthesis, like this "Some menu (&M)", where the &M becomes a underscored M.
Comment 4 Eugene Chan CLA 2006-06-02 15:12:21 EDT
will fix with bug 143532
Comment 5 Eugene Chan CLA 2006-06-05 10:20:05 EDT
fixed
Comment 6 Masayuki Fuse CLA 2006-06-07 03:25:53 EDT
Eugene,
It's reproducible in 200606060100 driver on RHEL4, but not on WindowsXP.
Comment 7 Eugene Chan CLA 2006-06-07 11:48:15 EDT
reopen bug as it's reproducible on RHEL4.0 with 200606060100
Comment 8 Valentina Popescu CLA 2006-06-07 11:50:44 EDT
Not a stop ship for 4.2 since this seems to be a platform related issue that may require code changes
Moving to 4.2.1
Comment 9 Eugene Chan CLA 2006-10-19 17:51:10 EDT
mass update:
retarget from 4.3 to 4.4. Cannot be contained in 4.3 due to resource limtation.
Comment 10 Eugene Chan CLA 2007-01-31 23:49:53 EST
Target to future. Cannot be contained in 4.4 due to limitation of resource.
Comment 11 Eric Labadie CLA 2007-08-09 17:26:40 EDT
This is required from AC perspective.
Comment 12 Tadayuki Yoshida CLA 2007-10-16 03:58:12 EDT
Refreshed the environment (listed below) and see the reproducibility, then found that mnemonic character within "Refresh Views" tooltip has gone, however, "Collapse All" tooltip contained mnemonic such as "Co&llapse All" instead.

Found also in Japanese environment with NLpack1-tptp applied. Tooltip was shown like "XXXXX (&L)" where XXXXX was the translated word for "Collapse All" in Japanese.

Build: Europa 3.3.1 (R-3.3.1-200709282326)
OS: Solaris 10 (sparc) 8/07 (update4) (GTK)
Bundles: Eclipse SDK 3.3.1, EMF SDK 2.3.1, TPTP SDK 4.4.0.3 and NLpack1 for each
Steps: same as original except that "Collapse All" button is right next to "Refresh Views"

Targetting 4.5 i2.
Comment 14 Alex Nan CLA 2007-11-05 18:20:24 EST
Changing target to 4.5 i4.
Comment 15 Alex Nan CLA 2007-12-12 00:09:20 EST
Targetting to i5, couldn't be contained in i4.
Comment 16 Alex Nan CLA 2008-01-15 22:49:30 EST
The english strings don't't contain menmonics, need to check if the translated files contain mnemonics.
Comment 17 Yasuhisa Gotoh CLA 2008-01-16 01:12:28 EST
The tooltip text for "Collapse All" has been fixed in bug 191134.
I would also think the fix code will solve the trailing " (&L)" issue in Japanese.

Please verify it using the latest TPTP driver.
