The search dialog should remember the last tab that was used and bring that up
as the first tab the user sees.

The search tab selection is context sensitive, i.e., when a JavaElement is 
selected then we bring up the Java search page. 
Other search contributors can do the same, i.e., when a C element is selected 
then the C search page shows up initially.

Making the search dialog context sensitive the first time I open it makes sense.
 Once I have started using it, I want it to stay on the last tab I used.

We have a preference in the dialog, which is currently not defaulted. 

I suggest we change the default to remember the last used page, users can adjust it if they prefer the dynamic selection of tabs. For me the dynamic selection is wrong in most cases and I heard similar complaints from other users.

Chenhui, please add this to the existing N&N entry. This time, please describe the path to the preference and add a screenshot so that the user can easily find this setting in case he liked the old behavior.

Not in the scope of this bug, but we can do the same kind of preference for Java Search also.
