When browsing trough source code and opening new editors Mylar can increase interest level for resources and that brings them up into the Package Explorer view. However after user close those editors, packages with no interesting classes are being shown in the Package Explorer view. I think it would make sense to automatically decrease interest on packages and other containers (such as folders and projects) that has no children user interested in.

I remember we have discussed this at some point but can't find correspond bug report now.
