When selecting text on Fedora Core rawhide, I get odd vertical bars in the selection (see attached screenshot:  gtkpipes.png).

$ rpm -q gtk2 libswt3-gtk2
gtk2-2.8.12-7.1.i386
libswt3-gtk2-3.1.2-1jpp_7fc.i386

This also happens with 3.2M4.  I've also entered this in Red Hat's bugzilla:

It would be good to indicate what pango version you're using, and what version
of cairo (since this is undoubtedly pango-cairo being used).
