I was doing my daily browsing of Eclipse and out of nowhere, this creature (http://www.eclipse.org/projects/gazoo.php) appears.

How about to make this a bit more fun, you sponsor a community thing where users can submit some pictures of this Gazoo. The winner gets a t-shirt? book? EclipseCON pass?

Is he considered a mascot?

He is not currently a mascot. But I am sure he would be happy to be one, if people wanted to have fun with it.  :-)

You may notice that the trademark guidelines for the incubator and proposal logos are really strict. That's because we don't want people claiming that they are projects when they're not. But AFAIK, there's no reason why we can't use do fun stuff with Gazoo himself.
