Description Frits Jalvingh CLA 2005-12-23 06:24:00 EST
I removed a branch tag from my CVS repository (cvs rtag -B -d [tag] module...). Then I tried to re-create the branch by using a project menu Team->Branch. In the dialog that follows (create a new CVS branch) I clicked "Details", then "Refresh Tags".
Even though the branch did not exist in the repository (I grepped the repository to make sure) it continued to be visible there. The only way to get rid of the thing was to manually edit
.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.team.cvs.ui/repositoriesView.xml
and remove the tags there.

Hi, I see the bug has been assigned and target at 3.1.1, but it is not fixed yet.

Any release plan for this?

The version field indicates the version against which the bug was logged. There is currently no plan to address this item. A better workaround is to select the project in the Repositories Explorer and select Configure Branches and Versions. From this dialog, you can remove the tag.

Recently I found steps that end up in the same issue.

The steps are:
1) Create 'project1'
2) Check it in a cvs repo and place it under a 'toplevel' module (you should get 'toplevel/project1' in the repo)
3) Create 'branch1' for 'project1' in the navigator
4) Go to the repo view and check that in Branches, there is 'branch1' with 'project1' inside
5) Configure tags/branches for 'toplevel' to use 'project1/.project' as one of its source tags
6) Refresh branches and check that 'toplevel' is added to 'branch1' under Branches
7) Revert what you did in step 5
8) Refresh branches, this will not remove 'toplevel' from 'branch1' under Branches, but it should do

The only workaround I found is to edit .metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.team.cvs.ui/repositoriesView.xml

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
