I have two very simple projects in my RC1 workspace, with a total of less than 10 small source files. Whenever I open up a file in the utility project, type a space, remove the space, and save, it takes 6s to validate the project. This is extremely annoying to anyone trying to use WTP for real work, since the validation holds up builds, saving another file, publishing, etc. I find it a little disturbing that we have performance problems with "HelloWorld" this late in the game.

Can you give  more details about the set up ?
Was it a disconnected test?

I imported the project and followed the step  you mentioned, it was less than a
second  for me.
