Description benson margulies CLA 2005-11-27 14:31:26 EST
When my view sets a selection provider with something like getSite().setSelectionProvider(listViewer), my expectation was that this would automatically enable the 'read' commands in the global edit menu. Given a selection provider, the framework could easily detect the availability of the necessary capabilities. Why not always allow copy of the labels available from the jface viewer framework, or at least provide some easily reused glue to package up the necessary actions.

Not sure what you're asking for here. Passing on to the commands dude for clarification.

The general principle here is that whenever there is text on display, one should be able to use edit/copy on it. As things are, any given view has to go through a number of specialized steps to plug into the edit menu. It seems to me that this could/should/might be a service of the platform.

Yeah, what do mean by "the 'read' commands"?
Comment 4 benson margulies CLA 2005-11-29 12:32:59 EST
COPY and SELECT_ALL as opposed to CUT and PASTE.

Okay, moving to [Viewers] as I think that covers selection providers.
