When selecting import from the XML catalog, the catalog only allows you to
import catalogs with files in the workspace. There doesn't seem to be any reason
for this and it can be irritating. For example, when setting up a new workspace
I wanted to import a catalog from another workspace. In order to do this I had
to create a project in my new workspace, import my catalog file (exported from
the other workspace), import it into the catalog, and then delete the project.

Patch

This patch adds the capability to import and export XML Catalogs from both the workspace and the file system.
It also addresses the issues reported in bug 174836 and in bug 174839 by properly handling paths with spaces and exceptions such as IO errors caused when trying to save an already existing read-only file.

This probably needs to be updated with bug 192568 going in for M3.

Like Dave said in the previous comment, the fix to bug 192568 rendered this patch obsolete (the advanced options dialog is never invoked).  Marking this patch obsolete.  I also verified that this is still a problem in wtp 3.0 m5.

Perhaps we could consider enhancing the first page in the new XML catalog import wizard.

In WTP 3.2 there is a button on the "Import XML Catalog" wizard that says "Import Files..." from here a user can select an external XML Catalog to import.  Does this meet the requirements of this enhancement request?

That whole page actually needs a redesign.
