(I think that this is a Platform problem.  If it's JDT please recategorize).

When you close an editor, the next editor in the tab group will come to the 
top.  When it does so, it causes the selection in the Packages view to change 
to match the input of the editor.

This behaviour is very annoying, as it causes the Packages view to lose my 
context.  The selection in the Packages view should change only if I explicitly 
select an editor, not just because I closed one.

Alternatively, perhaps the selection could only change if the selection 
currently points to the input of the closed editor.

Tod, pls try this case in the latest 2.0 builds. From the description it looks 
like linking was turned on and disabling this preference would "fix" the 
problem.
