Bug 110144

Summary: [Workbench] Eclipse window resizes to full screen of monitor #1 after waking up from screen saver
Product: [Eclipse Project] Platform Reporter: Andreas Deimer <andreas.deimer>

Whiteboard: stalebug

Description Andreas Deimer CLA 2005-09-21 05:50:15 EDT
Precondition:
2 monitors, same size, windows desktop extends on both monitors.
Eclipse sized to occupy monitor #1 fully and monitor #2 only half.
Wait until screen saver is active.

Problem:
When pressing a key to end screen saver, the eclipse window is resized to
fullscreen of monitor #1.

Solution:
When screen saver is ended, eclipse should have the same size as before.

Eric, this is a dual monitor issue, could you please try to replicate.
Comment 2 andy dingfelder CLA 2007-01-15 16:31:14 EST
This is still an issue in v3.2.1
Comment 3 Eric Moffatt CLA 2007-01-22 14:09:35 EST
Andy, it's unlikely that this issue will be addressed for the 3.2 stream which is essentially locked down (only really severe issues are even candidates).

I'll see if I can free up some cycles to at least look into it though...

A quick search reveals similar reports: bug 119868, bug 130035
Comment 5 Neil Swingler CLA 2007-05-23 10:05:23 EDT
Addtionally. I am fortunate enough to have 4 monitors and my workbench spans #1-3. After the screen is unlocked it is maximized in monitor #2

Neil, now that's a 'power' setup! Perhaps I can get myself set up the same way using this defect as the reason...;-).

Joking aside, it's (again, sorry) too late to address this for 3.3 but I'll tag this -explicitly- for review in 3.4.

I've also encountered this problem. Are there any status updates?
Is this planning on being in one of the next builds/mods?
Comment 9 Neil Swingler CLA 2007-09-27 08:49:58 EDT
The cause seems to be a change of screen resolution. When the workstation lock kicks in, windows changes the screen resolution to 1 monitor and resizes all the windows to fit. I can work around this by having my graphics card present one big screen rather than a screen per monitor.

It would be kind of nice if Eclipse would track screen resolution changes and maybe resize itself back to the original size when windows switches back to the original resolution.

Neil, thanks for the info, it'll help when I get onto this defect. I'll se what SWT can give me for events on the Display (which is where I'd expect to see the changes appear).

This is still an issue in 3.5. Is this going to be addressed?

This is still an issue in 3.7. Anybody?

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the "stalebug" whiteboard tag.
