I can create a WebDAV target site, connect to it, and export resources to it,
all in the same Eclipse session. But next time I run Eclipse and try to connect
to the site I get a "Error communicating with DAV server: 401 Authorization
Required" dialog. Filling in the credentials in site properties dialog doesn't
help. Right clicking on the site and selecting 'New Folder' eventually leads to
the Eclipse GUI dissappearing! (the eclipse.exe/java.exe processes are still
running, the GUI is just gone).

This is tested on a 100% clean 3.1 install (with WebDAV plugin added of course).
If this is somehow related to the DAV server I'm connecting to (Apache on a BSD
variant), I'll be happy to send my login details per email.

I receive this same error. I'm running Eclipse 3.1.2 with all updates installed from the Eclipse.org Update Site.

I'm surprised by the fact that this issue has seemingly been reported multiple times, yet still nothing has been done about it. From the reviews on Eclipse that I've read, WebDAV support is touted as a major Eclipse feature.

This component is no longer being actively developed. We encourage users to investigate the capabilities of the Eclipse Web Tools Project.
