The Eclipse *Workbench* UI itself is very easy to extend and add to due to its
underlying technology.

In contrast, adopters cannot make additions to the Help System webapp to extend
or supplement its functionality for particular installation scenarios; for
example, to add a toolbar icon or add a new tabbed view. Adopters can replace
with their own webapp code plugins of course, but that seems a drastic route if
all they want to do is add some functionality for their particular situation and
extend what is already there.

What is requested is the ability to easily supplement the help system webapp. At
a minimum, to add buttons along with the standard buttons and add new views for
the tabbed view. Extension points to extend.

"Adding a new tabbed view" is now covered in bug 286177.

As that was the more desired request in this bug (vs the adding new toolbar buttons), and as the reporter for this enhancement request, I'm marking this one as a duplicate of 286177. No need to keep this one open now.
