Description Nick Edgar CLA 2005-06-23 12:12:16 EDT
build N20050623

While working on bug 100927, I traced through PlatformUIPreferenceListener's
handling of the change of the default perspective pref to nothing (empty string).
It ends up calling IPerspectiveRegistry.setDefaultPerspective("").
It should be passing null in this case. However, with the current
implementation that will have no effect. It just looks for a perspective with a
matching id, finds none, and does nothing in that case.

It should clear defaultPerspID.
Also need to convert from null to "" when setting the preference, or an NPE will
result.

Should have a regression test for this too.

Reassigning bugs in component areas that are changing ownership.
Comment 2 Kevin McGuire CLA 2007-06-21 15:58:31 EDT
We're closer. Null is now correctly returned from IPerspectiveDescriptor findPerspectiveWithId(String id) but we then do nothing in setDefaultPerspective.

An easy fix for someone in the community to submit.

Prakash is now responsible for watching bugs in the [RCP] component area.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
