Description Michael Walters CLA 2005-06-14 18:25:58 EDT
I have a project I'm developing where I have a network share as the root of my
project. For example: \\myserver\myshare\ And I have full rights to this share
(read, write, modify, etc).

I am trying to point a linked folder to this location so I can work with the
content in eclipse. However, when I do so, eclipse does not display any of the
content (files or folders) under the linked folder. I have also tried mapping a
drive letter to this share (for example X:\), and pointed the linked folder to
that as well. In either case, nothing is shown.

If I were to create a file or folder in this linked folder, eclipse will create
the file or folder, and it will show under the linked folder. I can open the
file or folder in eclipse with no problems. However, if I were to refresh the
workspace, it would disappear. This happens in both Navigator and Project Explorer.

If I create linked folders to directories under the share location, they work
perfectly. For example, if I were to create a linked folder to point to
\\myserver\myshare\mydirectory or X:\mydirectory, it would work fine.

This same thing happens when I create a project and point the Project Contents
directory to the share or mapped drive. It will not show any content under the
project except the project file.

So basically, I can map linked folders, and projects to the root of the share.
Eclipse can write to the root of the share but does not display a listing of its
contents. However, if I map a linked folder or project contents to any
directory under the share, it works perfectly.

This also holds true for physical hard drives as well. If I were to try to map
the project contents to C:\ or a linked folder to C:\, it will not display the
contents.

For reference, I'm using build I20050401-1645 (3.1 M4) of eclipse.

Let me know if you need any other information.

"This also holds true for physical hard drives as well. If I were to try to map

contents."

So you are saying this is not about mapped drives, but about linking to the root
of any drive (or network share), correct?

If so, this is a dup of bug 92108.
